Why did you start Rthm?

Rthm is a needed advancement from the current range of digital health and wellness tools. With Rthm, users get curated advice based on the interaction of their genetics, their vitals, and their lifestyle.  All of the insights are presented in natural language, so the calls to action are clear, direct, and based on what you are most likely to enjoy.

What does Rthm do?

Rthm fuses proprietary advancements in biosensor technology and the most up-to-date scientific data with personal genetic analysis to revolutionize the way people use technology to improve their health, fight cellular aging and extend their lives.

Rthm puts you in control of your own health:

Who is Rthm for?

Rthm is for people who want to improve their health and wellness but don’t know where to start. We curate and personalize all of the information relevant to users into a single interface. We offer clarity. Users don’t need to spend hours searching for information that may or may not be relevant to them. All they need is to check-in with Rthm. With Rthm, users will discover their unique path to a longer and healthier life. 

Will I really be healthier if I follow Rthm’s tips?

The Rthm platform allows long-established scientific research to finally be applied in a personalized and relevant way for users. We already know the impacts of meditation, the importance of exercise, the relevance of genes, the meaning of telomere lengths, and the role of sleep in our daily lives.  Our AI unifies and aggregates these aspects of ourselves so that we are able to fully utilize the established science in a way that immediately benefits individuals.

 

iPhone Specific Questions 

Does the app need to stay open to work; I’m worried about battery usage?

No, Rthm does not drain your battery. Rthm collects data using efficient low-power sensors.

Is my iPhone supported?

Your iPhone must be running iOS 9 or above. All iPhones 5s and above are fully supported by Rthm.

For some earlier iPhone models, only the heart rate and meditation functionalities are enabled. To check which model you have check the back of your phone and follow the instructions.

I have an iPhone 5s or above but step and sleep data still is not showing up?

  • Open iPhone Settings > Privacy > Motion and Fitness > and ensure both Fitness Tracking and Rthm are turned ON
  • Open HealthKit > Sources > Rthm > and ensure Flights Climbed, Steps, and Walking + Running Distance are all turned ON

I have an Apple Watch, does Rthm support this?

Yes, Rthm integrates your Apple Watch heart rate, steps, and distance data. From the Rthm app tap Settings > HealthKit Sources and you will see your Apple Watch in the list of HealthKit sources. You can adjust the data priority level by tapping Edit and then dragging the Apple Watch to the top of the list.

Is Rthm available for download for Android users?

The Android version will be available later this summer. To receive a note about when Rthm for Android is available on Google Play, sign up for our Newsletter list.

Can I connect my fitness tracker?

Yes, if your tracker writes heart rate, steps and/or distance data to HealthKit on the Rthm app tap Settings > HealthKit Sources and you should see your devices listed if they are configured to write data HealthKit. You can adjust the data priority level by tapping Edit and dragging the devices from top to bottom in accordance with their data priority.

When I change Time Zones do I need to do anything?

No, using your phone’s time information Rthm automatically handles these situations.

Is my data secure with Rthm?

We take your privacy very seriously at Rthm, and we will always strive to earn and maintain your trust. All of your genetic information is anonymized and is only associated with users by a barcode and a randomized ID. Not even our employees, health professionals, or testing facilities will be able to associate genetic data with individual users. For additional safety, we are using state of the art encryption technology to protect any and all transmission and storage of information.

Using the Rthm Mobile App

Can I set my own goals?

Yes, we encourage users to set personal health goals. Rthm takes these goals into account when providing recommendations and tracking your trends. You can update your goals at any point by simply going to the Goals section in the Settings menu.

How do I measure my heart rate with Rthm?

Simply hold the phone flat on your chest and wait until you feel a vibration (make sure vibration is enabled!). If you are exercising and your heart rate is elevated select exercise mode before placing on your chest for an accurate reading. 

How does Rthm track my activity?

Rthm pulls activity data from HealthKit, this data can be collected from a backpack or purse, however, for the most accurate results it is recommended that the phone be kept in your pocket during daily activities.

How does meditation work?

Choose a meditation time and tap start meditation from the mindfulness view. Hold your phone still in front of your body and breathe in and out with the lotus. The phone will vibrate to let you know your meditation time is complete. In the main view you can view a card summarizing your meditation. Your mediation duration and trends are summarized in the mindfulness page.

How does sleep tracking work? Do I need to put the phone under my pillow?

Rthm automatically tracks your sleep using a very low-battery power option by monitoring the first and last time your phone moves. Place the phone on your nightstand and Rthm will passively measure bedtime and wake time and then calculate sleep duration. If you notice sleep is off, you can edit and confirm the times.

If you check first thing in the morning immediately after you wake up and the activity data hasn’t had a chance to come in yet, your historical bed and wake times are used to generate the sleep card. If you wait 5-15 minutes the activity data is available and new sleep data will be used to populate the cards. If you edit a sleep card and/or confirm the result, your sleep will not be overwritten.

My steps don’t show up right away, is there an issue with my phone or app?

If you are using an iPhone 5s or above your steps should appear as you go about your normal activities, however, activity data is not available instantaneously as HealthKit sends data in batches every 5 to 15minutes. As soon as Rthm receives the data from HealthKit the data is summarized.

Can I customize the daily heart rate and meditation reminders?

Yes, you can adjust the heart rate and meditation reminder settings by going to the Settings page then tap Notifications. From here choose your own custom reminder time or enable/disable heart rate measurement or meditation reminders. By default the meditation reminder is disabled when you first install the Rthm.

Can I login into another phone to view my data?

Yes, you can login to another device. Before you do so it is best if your logout of your current app first to backup your data. This way your data will be up to date on the new phone you login to. To logout go to Profile and then select Edit in the top right and then scroll to the bottom of the page and tap Logout.

DeepRthm Genetic Kit 

How do I get the DeepRthm results?

You can purchase a DeepRthm genetic kit from our website or directly through the app. A kit with a unique barcode is shipped directly to you. First, make sure to scan your barcode using the Rthm barcode scanner. Second follow the collection kit instructions and deposit your saliva into the collection tube, and place the sample back in the box. The box will already have a pre-paid shipping label on it for return, simply deposit the box at your nearest mailbox. If you are located in Canada, arrange a pick up from UPS or drop off the box at the nearest UPS Store.

Once your DNA have been processed your genetic traits grouped by nutrition, activity, and mindfulness will automatically be synced to your phone. You can view the results in the genetic traits view and you will begin receiving daily genetic-based health tip cards.

What’s a telomere? Can Rthm really extend and repair them? 

A telomere is a shield for your DNA that wears down with age and oxidative stress, rendering your DNA more susceptible to damage and other health risks.

Research shows that by maintaining a healthy lifestyle, individuals can preserve the length of their telomeres. Rthm’s revolutionary design offers customized advice, based on your own genetic and behavioral characteristics, to repair and preserve telomeres, and in the process slow aging.. 

How do you know that the information from the genetic screen is factual/accurate?

Our DNA sequencing facilities are CLIA, CAP, ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 Certified. The genetic associations reported are based on Peer-Reviewed research published in credible journals. We require reproducibility of scientific findings as a basic threshold for inclusion in the Rthm AI.

Can I delete my data?

I already had a genetic test; can I import this into Rthm?

We support the upload of raw data from certain consumer genetic tests although you will not receive the full functionality due to missing information that is only available from DeepRthm kits. DeepRthm focuses on polymorphisms specifically related to exercise, nutrition, and neurotransmission. Furthermore, DeepRthm measures telomere length, which we use to contextualize your genetic and behavioral interactions.

You can directly upload your raw data from 23andMe, AncestryDNA, Family Tree DNA (autosomal), or DeCODEme. This will instantly load your genetic traits in the Rthm app and you will start receiving daily genetic-based health tips. To get started, please visit https://user.rthm.io, where you can sign up/login with your Rthm account and find step-by-step instructions for uploading your data.

In Fall of 2016 your data will be exportable if you choose to share with a health professional.
